John’s Pass Village and Boardwalk is a waterfront destination you’ll want to know is out there. People come from all around to visit “The Pass,” as the locals know it, making it the biggest tourist attraction in Pinellas County. It’s the kind of place you’d want to go out of your way to visit. John’s Pass started as a fishing village not long after a hurricane blew through and carved it out of the shoreline back in 1848. Then, an honest-to-goodness pirate named John came through next, so that’s why it’s called John’s Pass.

These days, there aren’t so many timbers to shiver, but you will find lots of diversions for you and your mateys. The local fishing fleet still works out of here, so if you want to get on a boat (and you’ve packed your nautical-themed pashmina afghan, swim trunks and flippy-floppies), you’re in luck. Grab a tour boat or schedule some parasailing or jet skiing. John’s Pass has more than 100 shops and restaurants, so you’ll easily make a long day of it. Plus, John’s Pass has events all year like boat parades and pub crawls, so be sure to check what’s in store before you get in.
